When researching graduate programs, it was important to enroll in a university and program that was not only interesting, both personally and professionally, but provided the flexibility to take the courses virtually while working full time. This is what led me to Gonzaga University. Being from Washington state, I had heard of Gonzaga however, I had never visited the campus and the first thing that always came to mind was basketball. I was skeptical that Gonzaga would be right for me because I had not done any research on the university but that quickly disappeared when I came across the Communication & Leadership Studies program. Communication is important in every aspect of life and blending it with leadership studies was a match made in heaven. I believe leaders must be great communicators and this program is a way to learn about various communication strategies and how to use them effectively. The numerous courses available, both in COML and Organizational Communication, made me consider going beyond a two-year progression plan. In my 16 weeks as a Gonzaga student, I have learned firsthand what makes a Gonzaga education special. The facility promotes working together, creates an open and honest environment, and ensures all students are prioritizing their education all while promoting personal growth and health. Yes, other schools may have facility like this, but I like to think that GU facility members are one of a kind. This, matched, with the flexibility to take courses online make this program incomparable to other universities.
